Conservation volunteer for endangered animals in Australia

Written by: Marbella Cruz Juárez

Hi, it's Marbella here!
Today I wanna tell you about the great volunteering I am doing.

Volunteering to help animals is near Mount Larcom (35 km west of Gladstone) in Queensland. Volunteers were picked up from Gladstone to go to Mount Larcom.  Volunteers stay on site at the project in single rooms with shared bathroom facilities.

The weather here in Gladstone during the summer is hot, muggy, humid, and partly cloudy, while the winter is short, comfortable, and mostly clear and windy all year round. During the year, the temperature generally varies from 15 °C to 31 °C.

The Conservation Volunteer for Endangered animals" aims to get all those animal-loving souls who wish to volunteer abroad for a meaningful cause and seek to contribute effectively to the welfare of native animals to work in a rescue centre and shelter at home, where many animals are in temporary or permanent care at any one time.

Among the activities that I have done in this volunteering are:

1. I’ve prepared food for all the animals

2. I’ve collected the food for the animals.

3. I’ve cleaned and kept the grounds of the project clean and tidy.

4. I’ve planted trees

5. I’ve participated in fundraising activities.

I plan to do many higher-level activities, for example:

1. I’m going to attend animal rescues.

2. I’m going to release animals

3. I’m going to catch Nailtail Wallabies for the monthly health check.

Hello, I am a conservationist of birds in Africa, I came to Mexico to publicize the problems that these birds are experiencing and at the same time that people interested in the subject like to donate to us for the benefit of these birds, I came to find out what people They would like to be conservationists of these birds and so join this program. You what a Volunteer, you will have to play an active role in protecting, rescuing, rehabilitating and caring for sick South Africa penguins due to their vulnerability, as well as other seabirds such as gannets, cormorants and seagulls, who have been affected by the adverse effects of human behavior. Likewise, it must inform and educate the public through its different programs, since they give the opportunity to learn about these birds in danger of extinction.

South Africa's climate is Mediterranean, with mild, rainy winters and hot, sunny summers. Its coast is shaded by average temperatures of 14⁰C minimum and 27⁰C maximum, but keep in mind that, due to the size of the country, the climate is diverse and varies depending on the region you want to visit. In the South and the higher altitude areas the climate is more temperate, while in the Northwest it is subtropical, with higher humidity, and higher and constant temperatures; in the western interior it is semi-arid. In the northern areas and the western coastal zone, -areas of subtropical regime, the climate is warmer and with a relatively higher humidity, while the interior is drier, with really arid zones.

Some functions as volunteers that we have fulfilled are:

I've worked in the bird hospital.

We've cleaned the facilities of the bird hospital.

I've prepared food and medication.

We've been feeding the penguins and other birds.

I've taken care of the birds that are brought.

Some of my future activities are:

I'm going to do fun dynamics for the birds.

I'm going to create a special habitat for the penguins.

I'm going to teach the kids about the birds.
